• The Truth Project
  

Led by Azar Kenyon and Bill Hollberg
We are engaged in a cosmic battle: a battle for hearts and minds, pitting the truth claims of God against the lies of the world, the flesh, and the devil. This Focus on the Family DVD-based study, “The Truth Project,” is designed to equip believers with a comprehensive Biblical worldview and to encourage us to live lives of congruence, so that what we do manifests what we believe. • A Survey of the Gospel of John: Learning what Jesus Had to Say about Himself
  

Led by Jason Cannon
Jesus once asked his disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.”  How would we answer? Do we really know? To help us learn how to answer this question, let us ask Jesus to teach us. We will survey the Gospel of John, specifically the “I AM” declarations, and listen to what Jesus tells us. Come and learn. As we read in Philippians 3:8, knowing Jesus is of surpassing worth.

• 9:15 am Service
  Children 4 years-old through 3rd grade are dismissed during the 9:15 am worship service. Teachers will meet children in the lobby, walk them to the Education Building for Children’s Church, then take them to their Sunday School classes before the 11:00 service.
• 11:00 am Service
  All children two-years-old through 5th grade may attend Sunday School. Junior and senior high school students also have a Sunday School class at this time in the Education Building.

1st and 3rd Sundays at 6:30pm

Our evening worship offers a further wonderful time of worship.  The style is more informal and the service has its own excellent worship band.  Coffee and other drinks are available on arrival with cakes and other foods following the time of worship.  The talk/sermon often deals with a topic of immediate relevance to Christians and to the people in the world around us.

Questions. All of us often want to ask questions of a preacher.  In this service a time of Q&A is built in.  (There is a short gap of a couple of minutes for those who need to leave after the talk.)

Growing. This service is gradually growing and has become a favorite of many who attend. The layout of the room is changed considerably to allow for more discussion and more opportunity to relax before and afterwards and get to know people.  A choice of sitting at tables or in rows, as in the morning, is available.

Bringing Friends. Because of its more topical nature and its informality and the opportunity to ask questions, this is perhaps the best service to bring friends who are truly “unchurched”.  Everyone is very friendly.

Though the structure of each service may vary, each centers on the reading and teaching of the Bible. The hymns and songs that we sing will usually reflect the themes that arise from the reading of Scripture. We regularly use responsive bible readings, Creeds and Confessions in which the whole congregation participates. Each service lasts around 80 minutes and a little longer when we take communion.

Style of Sunday worship

Our services are a blend of hymns, psalms, and songs of praise, prayer, and proclamation. We sing newer compositions often in a modern and “upbeat” manner, but we also love our traditional hymnody. Both orchestral and band instrumentation are used and we try to ensure that different types of music are heard within each service. The pastors oversee worship but many others take part in leading us, for example, in the prayers, reading Scripture, sharing their stories of God’s work in their lives and so on.

Sunday Worship and the Arts

Our music and arts ministry contributes in many different ways to our worship. They are responsible for all our worship music, but also involve other arts in worship. (We always have space for more to join our various ensembles and bands!) See the Music and Arts Ministry Page.

Children welcome in Sunday Worship

Even though we offer Children’s Church, childcare and Sunday School during our morning services, children are very welcome to stay through the whole service. There is a “baby room” with a window through to the sanctuary for parents whose younger children need feeding. The only thing we ask is that, during prayer or a sermon, crying babies be taken out. The sermon is relayed into both the “baby room” and the foyer.

Dress for Sunday Worship

Not at all an issue for us! All styles of dress will be seen in our congregation. Some wear their “Sunday best” but most people dress more casually. We believe God looks on the heart, not on the outward appearance, so come dressed as you feel most comfortable.
