Prayer at ChristChurch. Prayer is at the heart of our ministry at ChristChurch and we encourage all who can possibly make it to join us for an hour from 7pm on Wednesdays every other week.
Why Pray? Partly we pray because this is commanded of us but, more importantly, it is when we are at prayer that we most come to understand the utter dependence of God's people upon the Lord. It is here that those who particpate come to see more and more deeply that things actually happen in the church when they pray! We have seen answers to our prayers over the last few years which, as Christians, we can only describe as miraculous.
What is the Prayer Meeting like? Usually it is introduced by a pastor with a word from Scripture and some introductory comments. We often sit around tables in our education building so the setting is very informal. The pastor will often lead us into topics for prayer. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to feel free to pray, but many come who never want to pray out loud but do want to be part of the body of Christ together at prayer. You will never be asked to pray or be singled out in this prayer meeting. The prayer meeting finishes very promptly at 8pm.
Fellowship. There is probably nowhere in the life of the church, except when we worship on Sundays, where such a deep level of fellowship is developed among people. Someone has said that the "family that prays together stays together"! Whether or not that is always true, it is certainly true that when God's people gather together there is a special presence of the Lord with them and an intensity of fellowship which is only gained from talking to the Lord together.
Come and Pray. We hope that you will join us for prayer whenever you can. Our deepest desire is to see ChristChurch as a place where God's "church" is truly at prayer for the world, for our community and our city, and for the many needs of our own people.
